Atlas demonstration: the free source photo and the computed Box Blur. A wild hare is captured mid-motion against a soft green meadow. The uniform mathematical averaging creates a distinct blocky appearance across the animal's fur and ears.

Prompt

Apply a Box Blur effect using uniform square-neighborhood softening across the photograph. Spread nearby colors evenly, suppress fine texture and grain, and soften high-contrast boundaries with faint square-edged halos rather than creamy circular bokeh. Retain broad tonal masses and the existing color palette. Keep the original subject and composition.

Paste it into LetzAI with your own image to apply the effect ↗

Identify

You see a softened version of the image where fine details are uniformly smoothed with faint, blocky edges.

Principle

The algorithm calculates the color of each pixel1 by averaging2 the colors of all pixels within a surrounding square grid. This uniform mathematical averaging spreads out local colors and creates a characteristic blocky softening effect.

Try it out

Change the size of the square grid to see how larger boxes create more intense, blocky blurring.

Classification

Calculated image processing result.
