Prompt

Apply a SnorriCam effect, locking the main subject sharply in place while making the surroundings appear to sway around them. Add curved directional background blur, a subtly tilted environment, close body-mounted camera intimacy, and gritty film grain without blurring the face. Keep the original subject and composition.

Identify

The face remains stable, while the surroundings sway around it.

Principle

The camera is attached to the body of the person being depicted.

Example

Requiem for a Dream, 2000.

Try it out

Describe the difference to a freely guided camera.

Background

With a body-mounted camera1, the head or torso remains in a similar position relative to the lens. The surroundings, however, follow the body's movement. This creates a detached or highly subjective impression2. SnorriCam now also documents hip mounts and 360-degree cameras as further developments. The principle should be understood as the coupling between person and camera, not as a general synonym for shaky images.

Distinction

The name refers to a specific camera system and is also used more generally for similar body mounts. A still image can only suggest the characteristic relationship between a stable face and a moving world.

Aftermath

Stability and instability depend on what the camera is connected to.
